of Workers Admit to Unethical or Illegal Acts - USA
Today
If this is what workers admit,
what is actually happening in your business?
Before hiring anyone, every
employer at every level of all organizations needs to
know:
·
Will this
job candidate steal from me?
·
Will he or she show up?
·
Will this
person be on time?
·
Is he or she likely to abuse
drugs/alcohol?
The
Center for Creative Management can provide your organization with a
legally valid and reliable survey you can give to job candidates to immediately
find out the answers to these and over 100 similar issues. It will only take about 15 minutes of the candidates' time.
You may score these surveys in-house or fax them to CFCM.
You will quickly receive a report informing you of possible areas of
concern.
Question:
"Come on, why would anyone admit they steal, use drugs, are tardy,
etc.?"
Answer:
The pre-employment assessments and surveys recommended by the Center
for Creative Management always have questions embedded which can help figure
out how truthful someone was when they filled it out.
For more information on the success of honesty and integrity tools,
please see "Searching for Integrity," Fortune,
March 8, 1993 page 140.
Question:
"I've been in business a
long time, don't you think I can tell when someone's
lying?"
Answer: This idea was put to the test.
Several groups of people whose jobs demand they separate liars from
truth-tellers were put to the test. The professions included were:
·
Psychiatrists
·
Judges
·
Police
·
U.S. Secret Service
·
Members of the CIA
·
FBI employees
·
National Security Agency employees
·
Army, Air Force, Marine personnel
·
Federal Polygraphers
Result:
Only the Secret Service performed better than chance!
If these experts can't tell catch a liar, how can you be sure you can? (To review this study, see "Who Can Catch a Liar?"
American Psychologist, September, 1991, vol. 46, no. 9, pages 913-920).
